Students from the Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy were awarded higher grades on completion of months of dedicated  training.  Examinations were  carried out by Sensei John Sevasta 2nd Dan Ju-Jitsu. Keith Darmanin, Alex Bonello : Brown Belts (1st Kyu) Charles Baldacchino, Mario Callus : Brown Belts (2nd Kyu) Stanley Debono, Keith Pavia : Orange Belts Kenneth Debattista and James Sammut : Yellow Belts. The academy is accepting new memnbers of any age, provided they have a serious interest in martial arts and are willing to learn effective self defense.

After months of intensive training, seven students from the Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy were awarded higher grades.  Examinations were  carried out by Sensei John Sevasta 2nd Dan Ju-Jitsu. Mario Saliba, Charles Vassallo, Alex Bonello : Brown Belts Charles Baldacchino, Mario Callus : Green Belts Keith Pavia, Jonathan Attard : Yellow Belt. Training at the acadamy focuses around effective self defense and avoidance of situations requiring the use of violence.

Since the Seven Samurai and Bruce lee films, martial arts have enjoyed ever increasing popularity in the west. A recent surge of interest in health and fitness added to a growing concern with violence and crime, has highlighted the benefits of mental and physical discipline afforded by these activities. Sensei John Sevasta has been practising the method of Ju Jitsu for more than 20 years. I say "method" because as sensei John constantly points out one must make a distinction between Ju Jitsu and its several derivatives. Ju Jitsu was never intended as a sport. Neither is it a discipline leading to spiritual improvement. Personally, says sensei John, "I consider martial arts as systems of combat and self-defence that lead to discipline and a better understanding of the self. John Sevasta is not only a qualified Ju Jitsu instructor, but also a hard-boiled martial arts enthusiast. He takes a keen interest in local and foreign developments, writes occasional articles and is generally very well-informed on the subject.
