17th September 2002
The Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy wishes to thank Shihan Billy Doak and the members of his club who conducted the National Ju-Jitsu Seminar, held in September 2002. It was a very enjoyable and informative experience for all members of the Academy, and members of other clubs, including the Shotokan Karate club and Wing-Chun club whom we also thank for their interest and participation. The first session was held on Wednesday 11th September 2002 at the St Aloysius Sports Pavilion B'Kara. The Whirlwind of Ju-Jitsu Shihan Billy Doak is a Professional Ju-Jitsu Master who holds a 7th Degree Black-Belt in Ju-Jitsu and a 4 th Degree Black-Belt in Judo. Shihan Billy Doak travels all over the UK as well as in various countries all over the world teaching in Ju -Jitsu and Martial Art Seminars. He is also the President and Chief Instructor of the Welsh Goshin Jitsu Federation of which the Maltese Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy is a member. In the UK he has established a reputation as a tough no nonsense Martial Artist who is never afraid to speak his mind. Paul Clifton the Editor of the leading UK Martial Arts magazine "Combat" (February 1999) described Shihan Billy Doak, " Shihan Billy Doak is not someone you would want to mess with". All those who were fortunate enough to participate in the sessions conducted by Shihan Billy Doak were rewarded with an array of Ju-Jitsu techniques which have become the trademark of the Welsh Goshin Jitsu Federation. Shihan Billy Doak aided by his wife Shareen (2nd Dan Ju-Jitsu), amazed all those present by a combination of skill, power, speed and effectiveness. Continuing to add to the success of this seminar, for the first time ever, local Martial Art students and Instructors from other disciplines such as Karate, Wing Chun and Kick Boxing participated actively in a Ju-Jitsu seminar. Ju-Jitsu Demonstration at Bay Street As part of this Seminar the Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy organised a Ju-Jitsu demonstration at the Bay Street Shopping Complex in St Julians. The Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy believes in giving its students and the Maltese public only the best and that is exactly what Shihan Billy Doak, his wife Shareen and their students delivered. The hundreds of people who thronged Bay Street on Saturday evening (14th September 2002) witnessed an exhilarating display of Ju-Jitsu techniques the likes of which has never been seen publicly in Malta. Sensei John Sevasta and his students also participated in this demonstration Shihan Billy Doak awarded Sensei John Sevasta, Founder and Chief Instructor of the Maltese Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy with his 3rd Dan (SanDan) Black-belt in Ju-Jitsu. During a farewell dinner, Sensei John Sevasta thanked Billy Doak and his students as well as all those who contributed to the success of the Malta National Ju-Jitsu Seminar 2002, particularly the Malta Judo and Associated Disciplines Federation. |

1st January 2002 "Submission Fighting"The Bushido Ju-Jitsu Academy has established a team of Ju-Jitsukas who train extensively in "Submission Fighting". Sensei John Sevasta has introduced "Submission Fighting" as
an integral part of the Ju-Jitsu training at the BJA as it is based on
fundamental Ju-Jitsu techniques and conforms to the type of training undertaken
at the Academy. Since such techniques are common to all Schools of Ju-Jitsu Sensei John Sevasta has invited other local Ju-Jitsu organisations, including the local Samurai Ju-Jitsu Federation to participate in a test of Ju-Jitsu skills based on "Submission Fighting". Unfortunately, to-date all such organisations have declined this offer
under some pretext or other. |
